"This is just madness. Even if we put aside the fact that there are real problems that require immediate attention, and even if we ignore the proposal’s legislative prospects, the Republicans’ Balanced Budget Amendment is one of the worst ideas in the history of bad ideas. That congressional Republicans managed to create a BBA this year that was even worse than the previous version is a testament to their creativity, but it also reflects a degree of economic illiteracy that should disqualify them from any adult conversation on public policy."

Steve Benen, with some biting words for Republicans. In their weekly address, the GOP called on President Obama to prioritize a Balanced Budget Amendment in his upcoming jobs address. (via pantslessprogressive)

It seems President Obama knows I love infographics.
Here’s one that his campaign staffers put together after last night’s riveting GOP debate …
Personally, I love the prominence of “hogwash,” “Donald Trump,” “dog food,” and “cook you dinner.” Oh — and “Christmas with Elvis.”
The GOP definitely knows what’s on my mind right about now.

The Republican party has moved very, very far from it’s populist roots. I can’t believe anyone with a conscience could vote for them, despite their 24/7 propaganda machine.

As Drudge might say, SHOCK POLL.

"People don’t seem to make the connection between their tax money and the benefits that they get from their tax money, like free education, and the fire department, and police protection, and everything else. It drives me bonkers, because it’s pretty straightforward to me. People think of taxes as money just being robbed from you. They don’t consider the benefits of paying taxes. The benefits that they get and also the benefit of just being a part of a large group of people: a town, or a city, or a country, or a society that allegedly should stand together and all try to help each other."
